Puerto Rican Rapper Ankhal Remains In Serious Condition After Shooting

PUERTO RICO- Rapper Ankhal remains in serious condition after a shooting on Tuesday.

The rapper, whose real name is Anthony Mercado Diaz, was shot multiple times, police say.

Police responded to a 911 call about a report of a shooting around 10:17 p.m. in the Fajardo region of Puerto Rico. They found Ankal and 25-year-old Jose De Leon with multiple gunshot wounds.

Both men were in a car that was driven by a 24-year-old man.

Ankal and De Leon were rushed to a near-by hospital, but due to the severity of their injuries, they were transferred to another hospital where they’re currently fighting for their lives.

Ankal was signed to Carbon Fiber Music, which is co-founded by rapper Farruko.

Farruko posted a photo with Ankhal Wednesday with a touching caption that read:

“My son, because I have always seen you as my son with love and respect, I have not stopped praying for you since I found out what happened to you. I thank God that you are still alive.” Adding, “I even feel guilty because I opened the doors to fame for you and even though I did it with good intentions, not everyone knows how to handle this.”

Ankhal has worked with artists such as Myke Towers, Jhay Cortez and more. He was highlighted the rapper as an artist to look out for in 2022.
