SHREVEPORT, La.- Prosecutors have dropped rape and kidnapping charges against rapper Mystikal.
The rapper was indicted on rape, and kidnapping charges in 2017, but those charges were dropped on Thursday after a second Caddo Parish grand jury returned a no true bill, clearing the rapper.
The 50-year-old rapper, whose real name is Michael Lawrence Tyler, was released from jail on a $3 million bond 2 years ago after serving 1½ years.
Mystikal surrendered himself to police in 2017, after there was a warrant for his arrest for kidnapping and rape. He was accused of sexual asssaulting a woman at a casino in 2016.
Mystikal pleaded guilty in 2003 to forcing his former hairstylist to perform sexual acts on him and his two bodyguards. He had allegedly recorded the acts on a cellphone.
He was released from prison in 2010 after serving 6 years for sexual battery and extortion.
