Rapper Claims Self-Defense In Killing Of Pregnant Woman After Being Acquitted For Double Murder Outside Recording Studio

TAMPA- A rapper accused of killing a pregnant woman is claiming self-defense in her death, according to a report.

In a 2.5-hour statement to police, Billy Adams III told detectives that he killed a 22-year-old pregnant woman after she pointed a gun at him first, according to the prosecutor’s pretrial detention motion, reports WFLA.

According to the motion, Adams changed his statement to the fact that the “victim pulled a gun on him and he was able to get the gun away from the victim and then shot her in the head as self-defense,” according to the outlet.

Adams was in court Thursday morning for his first appearance on charges in the death of 25-year-old Alana Sims, who was 5 months pregnant.

Sims was found dead on Jan. 30 at the Easton Park subdivision. Her 5-month-old toddler was just feet away from her body. He was placed in the care of her family.

The motion also states that a vehicle registered to Adams father was allegedly seen entering and exiting the Easton Park subdivision on the night Sims was murdered.

Adams finally admitted to detectives that he met up with Sims in the Easton Park subdivision neighborhood. He said that’s when he acted in self-defense, shooting her once in the head and killing her, reports WFLA.

He told police that Sims may have been pregnant with his unborn baby.

Adams also texted another woman on Jan 29, telling her “Tomorrow dis [expletive] done.” The woman replied to him “This ain’t the way baby.”

Admas was charged with first-degree murder with a firearm and killing of an unborn child by injury to the mother.

The Florida rapper was acquitted by a jury of killing two men in a recording studio on January 27 and was able to go home.
