Rapper “Famous Richard” Arrested For Taunting NYPD, Police Say He Cried Inside Jail Cell

NYC- A rapper known for taunting NYPD officers known as “Famous Richard” on social media was arrested May 12.

The Drill rapper, whose real name is Richard Sharp, was arrested in Jamaica, Queens, weeks after the NYPD released a safety alert about his brazen antics.

Sharp, who’s from Chicago, was obstructing traffic with another person when officers ordered him to get out of the street, police said.

He refused and told the officer, “I’m going to take your pipe.”

Sharp intended “to intimidate officers caused reasonable expectation of fear of taking the officer’s firearm,” an NYPD spokesperson said.

When an officer attempted to arrest Sharp, he allegedly resisted.

Sharp has been charged with making a terroristic threat, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, disorderly conduct, menacing resisting arrest.

He was later released on his own recognizance.

Police taunted the rapper in a video after his arrest, with an officer telling Sharp that he cried in his jail cell.
