Rapper Grand Daddy I.U. Dies At 54

Rapper Grand Daddy I.U. has reportedly died at the age of 54.

The rapper’s close friend, DJ Chuck Chillout announced the rapper’s death on his Facebook page.

Grand Daddy I.U., whose real name is née Ayub Bey, began rapping in the 80’s alongside his brother Kay Cee. Biz Markie helped to get the rapper signed to Cold Chillin’ Records in 1989.

Grand Daddy released his debut album Smooth Assassin that same year, which Biz and Cutmaster Cool V produced.

After parting ways with Biz, he returned in 1994 with his sophomore album Lead Pipe. He went on to work with rappers like The Notorious B.I.G., KRS-One, Big L and many more.

He later then released two additional albums in 2007 and in 2015.

Bey’s cause of death is unknown at this time.
