Rapper Kevin Gates is now banned from all Louisiana prisons after a visit he made sparked an investigation within the DOC.
In a photo that the rapper put up of him inside of the prison on his visit to see rapper C-Murder, it shows him sitting down with him along with a few other men at a table, while he’s flashing money, too much of it according to the DOC.
DOC spokesman Ken Pastorick told The Advocate “As indicated in the photograph, it appears Mr. Gates had a large sum of cash, which is unacceptable, and a violation,” Pastorick told The Advocate newspaper after news of the investigation broke. “It is against Elayn Hunt Correctional Center policy to bring case exceeding $300 into the prison, and any amount above that is considered contraband.”
According several other news outlets, Gates wasn’t allowed to bring that much money into the prison. The DOC is also saying that the rapper wrote down that he was visiting two relatives on paperwork, which wasn’t the case.
This has caused an investigation, and the outcome was that Warren Perry Stagg let Gates bypass security points like “contraband detection” and body scanners. He has since demoted to Assistant Warren at the Angola Hunt Correctional Center, along with another Warren.
It was also recommended that Gates be banned from visitation lists and facilities.
