PHILADELPHIA – Rapper Phat Geez was shot and killed in Philadelphia.
Police responded to a report of a person with a gun around 10:10 p.m. Sunday on the 1200 block of North Taney Street.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Phat Geez, whose real name is Derrick Grant, with multiple gunshot wounds lying in the street in front of his home.
Grant, 32, was taken to Penn Presbyterian hospital where he died from his injuries at 10:30 p.m.
Investigators have reportedly said they have a video of Grant speaking of someone in the passenger side of a vehicle on the street before shots were fired. The vehicle then fled the scene after the shooting.
No arrests have been made.
Phat Geez rapped about anti-gun violence and according to his brother, was feeding the homeless the day before.
