MIAMI- Rapper Pooh Shiesty avoided a possible life sentence after pleading guilty to a federal gun charge.
The Chicago rapper, whose real name is Lontrell Williams Jr., pleaded guilty on Monday to drug trafficking and conspiring to possess firearms in furtherance of crimes of violence, reports Tampabay.com.
As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped three charges, which included a gun charge that had a possible maximum sentence of life in prison, according to court docs.
The troubled rapper is accused of being inside of a vehicle on July 2020 when another passenger discharged a firearm at a gas station, prosecutors say.
As I wrote, several months later, the 22-year-old rapper was with a group when he allegedly wounded two people, stealing high-end sneakers, codeine and marijuana in Miami.
Williams then shot and wounded a security guard after a performance at a Miami club in May 2021.
The guard later told police that Pooh Shiesty wasn’t the gunman who injured him, but the court continued on with the charges.
