INDIA- Rapper Sidhu Moose Wala was shot and killed near his home Sunday, according to local reports.
The 28-year-old singer, whose real name is Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, was shot and rushed to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say Wala left his home in a car with two other people around 4:30 pm. About two hours later, two cars approached his vehicle and opened fire from the front.
Punjab police chief Viresh Kumar Bhawra said about 30 empty casings were found at the crime scene, which belonged to three different weapons including a 9mm handgun.
Police say the attack is linked to gang rivalry, and that an alleged gang member in Canada allegedly claimed responsibility for Wala’s death.
Political groups are blaming Punjab’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allowing the killing to take place.
The rapper tuned into a politician before he was murdered.
The rapper reportedly had a bullet proof car but didn’t use it.
Rapper’s like Drake and Stefflondon send their condolences on social media.
The rapper rose to fame after releasing his first song in 2017.
