Rapper Trae Tha Truth Charged With Assault After Alleged Fight With Rapper Z-Ro

Rapper Trae Tha Truth has been charged in connection to an altercation with rapper Z-Ro that was captured on video.

Trae Tha Truth, whose real name is Frazier Othel Thompson, 42, has been charged with assault causing bodily injury, which is a misdemeanor charge, according to local reports and court documents.

The charge stems from a fight that happened in August outside of a restaurant. A video of the fight appears to show several men kicking and hitting Z-Ro, as he’s lying on the ground.

Z-Ro’s attorney claims that police wanted to pursuit the case because of social media “spectacle,” according to The Houston Chronicle.

But, Z-Ro, whose real name is Joseph McVey, did speak to police days after. The rapper told police that he had initially offered to settle his dispute with Trae at a charity boxing match, but the offer was rejected.

Z-Ro told police that he walked out of the restaurant and was taking photos with fans when Trae Tha Truth approached him and asked to meet, according to a complaint.

When Z-Ro went to meet Trae Tha Truth, Trae allegedly sucker punched him.

Other men then jumped in, taking Z-Ro’s watch, sunglasses and his bracelet when he fell to the floor. The bracelet is worth about $19,000 and the watch is worth about $15,000, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Two other men have been charged in connection to the alleged assault.

Dewayne Buggs, 32, has been charged with robbery, and Johnathan Steen, 36, was charged with assault causing bodily injury.
