MIAMI- Rapper YNW Bortlen, an associate of YNW Melly who is facing charges for a double murder was arrested in Miami-Dade County on Monday.
Bortlen, whose real name is Cortlen Henry, was released on bond in 2020. One of the conditions of his release was not to contact any witnesses in the case. A warrant cited an accusation from the mother of the witness in the case involving both men, according to the Sun Sentinel.
“Henry had stated to [Melly’s girlfriend], if she was loyal, she would be driving a pink BMW,” the warrant states, adding it was made “clear that if [she] does not cooperate with the criminal case, she would have been rewarded,” the outlet reports.
YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons and Henry are accused of shooting and killing two of their best friends. YNW Juvie and YNW Sakchaser back in 2018.
Demons went to trial this year and after the jury couldn’t come to a unanimous decision after 3 days of deliberation, the judge declared a mistrial on July 22.
If both men are convicted, they both face the possibility of a death sentence.
Henry’s trial is scheduled to begin in January.
