FLORIDA- Rapper YNW Melly’s retrial now has a date.
A Broward County judge announced Wednesday that the Florida rapper’s retrial will begin in October, according to Local10.
Broward County Circuit judge John Murphy ruled against a mistrial motion from his defense and has set Melly’s retrial to begin on Oct. 9, the outlet reports.
Murphy declared a mistrial on July 22 after the jury failed to reach a unanimous decision. He also denied another mistrial motion on Sept. 12 and bond on Sept. 22.
YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamel Demons, is accused of fatally shooting two of his best friends on Oct. 26, 2018, in Broward County.
Prosecutors have failed to provide enough evidence that the “Suicidal” rapper murdered his friends.
