Rapper Young Thug Set To Go To Trial For RICO Case

ATLANTA- Rapper Young Thug will begin trial for his RICO case on Monday, according to reports.

Young Thug is accused by prosecutors of running a criminal gang, YSL, who allegedly committed violent crimes.

Thugga, whose real name is Jeffrey Lamar Williams, was charged with a dozen others in a sweeping indictment back in May. Additional charges were added in a second indictment in August.

Prosecutors are even using the rapper’s lyrics from his songs against him in the case. Claiming that the rapper is promoting violence through his lyrics.

The original indictment charged 28 people with conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act, or RICO, along with other charges.

Fourteen people will be heading to trial, which is reportedly expected to last months.

YSL rapper Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens was also charged, but he was released from jail after accepting an Alford plea deal.

Thug is the co-founder of Young Slime Life, the name of his record label.
