Rickey Smiley Speculates 32-Year-Old Son May Have Died From Overdose

Rickey Smiley may have hinted at the possible cause of death for his 32-year-old son, who died over a month ago.

Smiley stopped by the Today show on March 2, and opened up about his son, Brandon Smiley’s death, saying drugs could have played a huge role.

The comedian said, ‘He was struggling with that,” he told the host.

“His mother and I made several attempts to try and send him to get the help he needed, send him to rehab. And we thought that he was doing better.”

Smiley shared Brandon with his ex, Brenda Morris.

The radio personality noted that Brandon “used and it killed him,” but he went on to say that his theory hasn’t been confirmed by officials yet, as the family is awaiting toxicology reports.

“But this is just what we are speculating, according to his girlfriend who found him unresponsive.”

The Rickey Smiley Morning Show went on to urge parents to speak about substance abuse with their children.

Brandon, 32, was found dead by his girlfriend inside of their home in late Jan.
