Rite Aide employee killed after trying to stop beer thieves; 1 suspect in custody

LOS ANGELES- Police have one of two suspects wanted in connection to the death of a Rite Aid employee who was shot and killed last week.

Anthony Lemus, 20, turned himself into the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department on Monday, FOX News reports.

He’s been charged with murder and being held on a $2 million bond.

The second suspect is still wanted in connection to the July 15 killing is still at large, police say.

The deadly shooting happened when the two suspects walked into a Rite Aid store, both grabbing a case of beer. They both attempted to flee without paying for the booze and an employee, Miguel Penaloza, 36, was shot and killed when confronting them.

It’s unclear which of the suspects killed Penzloza.
