Serial killer who met victims on dating apps is sentenced

A convicted serial killer who used dating apps to lure his victims in 2016 was sentenced to 120 years in prison on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Khalil Wheeler-Weaver told a judge that he was framed before denying responsibility for his crimes.

The court room was packed with family and friends of the victims.

A jury found Wheeler-Weaver guilty in 2019 of 11 charges that included three counts of murder, attempted murder and desecration of human remains, two counts of aggravated sexual assault, kidnapping and aggravated arson.

Sarah Butler was a 20-year-old college student who disappeared while she was home from college for a Thanksgiving break in 2016. Her body was found in a wooded area.

Wheeler-Weaver strangled Butler with his left sweat pant leg.

Robin West, 19, was last seen getting into a car with Wheeler-Weaver on the night of Aug. 31, 2016. Her body was found in a burning house.

Joanne Brown, 33, was killed about a month later and her body was also found in an abandoned home. No none spoke on her behalf in court, so prosecutors did, saying she was loved.
