FLORIDA- Two women have been charged with murder in the death of a 13-year-old missing girl whose body was found dead in a field in May.
Authorities have now charged the girl’s stepmother and aunt in connection to her death.
A grand jury indicted Valerie Young, 52, and Marian Williams, 57, on Thursday for the death of Delia Young, reports WCJB.
Valerie reported Delia missing on May 16, telling police that the girl was a run-away, reports ClickOrlando.
According to an arrest report, Williams told police that she witnessed Young beating the teen with an extension cord on May 16. Williams lived with Delia.
William claims that she allegedly asked Delia if she wanted to go a hospital, but the girl refused. The following morning, Williams says that she found Delia dead.
A day later, both Williams and Young put Delia’s body in a bag and left her body in a house located in Lacrosse.
Both women returned to the house on May 18, and said that Delia’s body was missing. Her body was then discovered in a field by police.
Williams and Young were both arrested on May 16.
According to Delia’s teacher, Child Protective Services failed Delia, as they had 9 reports that the girl was being abused, reports WCBJ.
The teacher said Delia once came to school with a hand so swollen, that she couldn’t write. She also had visible bruises and scratches on her back.
She was described a happy teen who loved to laugh
Young and Williams have been charged with first-degree murder, tampering with physical evidence, two counts of neglect of a child with great bodily harm, making false reports to law enforcement authorities and resisting arrested without violence.
