‘Surviving R.Kelly’ documentary; John Legend gets backlash, Aaliyah’s mother gets involved and Dame Dash

The ‘Surviving R.Kelly’ finally debuted on the Lifetime network, and people are either still in denial that a man who some of us grew up listening to could be accused of this things told by these woman or are finally speaking against him.

Well, it’s finally out, and the accusations are gut wrenching. The documentary showed many women, including his ex-wife Andrea Kelly, who was married to the singer for 13 years. She spoke on how she was allegedly abused by Robert Kelly for years and it matched the stories of other woman who he was involved with.

They spoke about allegedly being physically abused by R.Kelly, with one even saying that she wasn’t allowed to speak to others in his presence, many of them were told what to wear, like sweatpants instead of tight fitting clothes, to control them, this was according to his ex-girlfriend who was on the Megyn Kelly Show before the documentary premiered.

Now in the documentary, one of the women speaks on her relationship, and how R.Kelly also controlled her by telling not to others besides him (especially men). He allegedly told her “If they speak to you, you don’t say anything.”

It was hard for producers to get celebrities to talk about their experiences with R.Kelly and how they felt about the many accusations that have been brought up for over two decades, but singer John Legend did.

Legend had worked with Kelly in the past, and he spoke up in the documentary. He received a great amount of respect from people, but he also received negative backlash. He tweeted how he felt about that.

He said ended it with “Easy decision.”

Dame Dash has got involved. In a video, Dame Dash says how Aaliyah, who dated her until her until she died, said that she didn’t tell much about her marriage to R.Kelly but did say that he was a bad man. Dash he really didn’t want to know detail, because he probably would have approached R.Kelly.

Singer Aaliyah’s mother even got involved, saying that her daughter was never having sex with R.Kelly, as one of his backup dancers claims in the documentary. Now, we all know that Aaliyah married the singer when she was 15, but somehow the marriage certificate shows she 18 years of age. Her mother to me seems to still not be able to grasp the thought that her was married to this man at such a young age.

So, how? How do we go on from here? Especially those in the Hip Hop community. Do we ignore ALL of these alleged victims, including his ex-wife, and keep it pushing? Or say ‘Enough is enough’ and take it for what is really is? The fact that R.Kelly has been accused so many times of preying on young girls, that we can longer ignore it folks. He is a disgusting man who should be kept far away from young woman and how he’s never done years in prison for these allegations is beyond unbelievable.
