Talk Show ‘The Real’ Is Cancelled After 8 Seasons

The talk show “The Real” has been cancelled after 9 seasons.

Warner Bros. and Telepictures, who produce and distribute the daytime talk show, made the decision to yank it, reports Variety.

Loni Love, a Co-host of the show blamed the cancelation on COVID-19 Friday.

Loni went and posted a statement on Instagram which read “In my opinion Covid costs killed this show.. it’s been a great ride and thanks to the viewers for 8 great seasons!” she wrote.

She went on to say that the cast and crew “did everything” they could to “scale” the show down. “We shot 7-8 shows in 3 days, no audience, made a conference room into a studio.”

Loni then finished her statement by adding “…it’s been a great ride and thank you to the studio for allowing 8 seasons of show that was Emmy winning and historic,”. “Most importantly, thank you to the viewers for riding with us..this is not goodbye but see you all soon!.”

The show premiered in 2003 with 5 co-hosts, who included Tamara Mowry, Tamar Braxton, Adrienne Bailon and Love.

In the seasons the show was aired, they picked up three Daytime Emmy Awards and a NAACP award.
