Mary Kay Letourneau, the former teacher who was convicted of raping her teen student, has died at 58.
According to a statement released by her family, Letourneau died on Tuesday after her battle with metastatic cancer. She was diagnosed six months ago and soon began to dramatically lose weight.
Mary Kay wanted to keep her health status private.
Letourneau made headlines when she she was convicted of raping her then 12-year-old student Vili Fualaau when she was a former teacher. She was sentenced to over 7 years in prison.
Despite being told to stay away from the then 15-year-old by the court, Letourneau became pregnant twice, bearing two of their daughters.
Letourneau married Fualaau in 2005. They broke up & got back together several times. Both filed for separation in 2019.
