LOS ANGELES – A 16-year-old girl has died after suffering severe injuries from allegedly being attacked by bullies at her high school in Los Angeles.
Cellphone footage from inside of a bathroom at Manuel Arts High School in South L.A. shows Shaylee Mejia fighting with another girl on March 5 when she hits her head against a stall after falling down.
Mejia complained of headaches for days after the fight, and the last time she was seen alive was when she attended a party, according to her mother.
She was told her daughter fainted at the party and was taken to a hospital by a friend.
Doctors said she had a fatal hemorrhage after suffering from a serious brain injury.
Mejia never regained consciousness and died six days later on March 15.
Her mother says she was a constant target for bullies, getting into more than one altercation at the school, which were all caught on video.
Her cause of death is under investigation and authorities are investigating the incident.
