NEBRASKA- Two teens are being hailed as heroes after saving a missing autistic boy who was drowning in a pond.
Tryston Santos, 15, and Caron Caldwell, 16, spotted the 6-year-old boy flailing his arms as his head was bobbing underwater, according to KETV.
Caldwell jumped into the pond after seeing the boy was drowning.
“He was clinging on to me pretty hard. It was kind of surreal when I grabbed him. He definitely couldn’t stand in there,” Caldwell told KETV.
Caldwell says the boy wasn’t able to properly communicate, and that’s when he and Santos began on knocking on neighbor’s doors trying to find who his parents were.
A woman who lived close-by called police, who then found the boys mother.
Police say the boy, who is autistic, wandered off from his home and his mother had been searching for him.
