Third Suspect Charged In Young Dolph’s Murder, Allegedly Planned On Killing Rapper For Months

MEMPHIS- A third man has been charged in the death of rapper Young Dolph.

According to Shelby County Attorney Steve Mulroy, Hernandez Govan, 43, was indicted by a grand jury on three charges on November 10, reports KAIT8.

Govan has been charged with first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and criminal attempt first-degree murder.

He was also the only suspect to be charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

That charge is stemming from June of 2021, possibly indicting that he had planned on killing the rapper months before, according to KAIT8. Govan is also a career criminal.

Now, Govan was in jail when Dolph was murdered. He was charged with aggravated assault. Authorities could have evidence that Govan planned to kill Dolph.

Cornelius Smith, 32, and Justin Johnson, 25, were also charged with murder.

Young Dolph was killed after stopping by Makeda’s Homemade Cookies on Nov. 17, 2021, to pick his favorite chocolate chip cookies when he was ambushed and killed inside of the store.
