Third Teen Arrested In Hate Crime Attack Involving 65-Year-Old White Woman

QUEENS, NYC- A third teenage suspect has been arrested in connection to the attack on an elderly white woman, police said.

Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced hate crime charges against Jahnaiya Williams, 19, Wednesday, in connection to the July 9 attack, according to Fox News.

Williams is now facing charges of assault in the second and third degree as a hate crime, assault in the second and third degree, menacing and aggravated harassment in the second degree.

Two other teen girls, ages 15 and 16, were charged last month for their alleged role in the attack. Both girls were charged with two counts of assault while carrying out a hate crime and aggravated harassment while carrying out a hate crime.

Police say the attack happened when the three suspects approached the 57-year-old victim as she was riding on an MTA bus and struck her in the head with an unknown object.

Surveillance footage reportedly shows one of the suspects telling the victim “I hate white people”. As the bus passed a cemetery, the suspect also allegedly told the victim that she would kill and “bury” her body.

The victim suffered non-life-threating injuries.
