Tory Lanez Files Appeal After Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Conviction

LOS ANGELES- Singer Tory Lanez has filed an appeal months after being found guilty of shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion, according to a report.

Court documents obtained by TMZ state that Tory’s criminal defense lawyer Jose Baez claims his client’s conviction should be thrown out because “irrelevant evidence” was presented during his trial.

Baez alleges that it was wrong for the jury to have heard an 80-minute interview that prosecutors had with Megan’s former friend, Kelsey Harris, who was in the vehicle at the time of the shooting, according to the outlet.

He also claims that a shirtless pic of Tory holding a gun to his chest was used to “underscore to the jury his client had a fondness for weapons.”

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, was convicted in Dec. 2022 of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the back of her feet after a verbal dispute after leaving a party at Kylie Jenner’s house in July 2020.

The Canadian rapper and singer was charged with one felony count each of discharging a firearm with gross negligence, assault with a semi-automatic firearm (personal use of a firearm) and carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

The singer faces up to 22 years in prison.

He’s due in court for his sentencing on April 10.
