Trailers found in Puerto Rico with hundreds of donations with rotting food, medicine and more. Why weren’t they given out?

A local radio station in Puerto Rico has found several containers filled with hundreds of supplies that were never given out to victims after Hurricane Maria. The trailers were left behind in a parking lot of a government facility that was used as a donation site. Radio Isla filmed the rotting supplies and made the news public on Thursday. The national guard has released a statement saying that the items were expired, so they were never distributed but there are plenty of items that are NOT expired.

Some of the supplies that the National Guard said it would be giving out were electric fans, batteries and food. Some supplies that were found had rodent droppings over them & were damaged. There are donations of medicine, water, food, dog food and more from private donations. The national guards statement just doesn’t justify why the people of Puerto Rico, who died because of Trump’s slow work & political bullshit were not handed those donations that people gave them.

My island has been forgotten, as if we were shadows of the night and the people of Puerto Rico were left to die. Puerto Rico is reportedly estimating that 1,400 lives were lost but some say the numbers are higher. Puerto Rico’s morgue is backlogged and has about 60 bodies that are waiting on autopsies to determine their cause of death according to CBS news. Photo cred: Newsroompost.com
