BUFFALO, N.Y.- Two police officer’s who were recorded on cellphone footage pushing an elderly protester to the ground are facing charges.
Suspended officers Robert McCabe and Aaron Torgalski were charged with second-degree assault.
Both Torgalski and McCabe plead not guilty to the charges, and are expected to appear in court for their felony hearing on July 20th.
In the video, you could see 75-year-old Martin Gugino speaking to the officer’s when he was thrown to the ground, cracking his head, causing him to bleed on the concrete.
When Gugino fell, a fellow protester began to yell at the officer’s for assaulting him. One officer can be seen laughing as the peaceful protester was laid out unconscious.
Gugino is currently in “serious but stable condition” due to the injuries he sustained from these officer’s assaulting him.
Gugino has been peacefully protesting for many years, and was, for George Floyd.
