Two gunmen attempted to kill rapper Peezy; say’s he “fought for his life”

DETROIT- Rapper Peezy was assaulted by two men on Friday.

The rapper, whose real name is Phillip Glen-Earl “Peezy” Peaks, told police that he was asleep in his car in a driveway after 4:30 a.m. when two armed men allegedly pulled him from the car, reports The Detroit News.

When police arrived at the residence, after Peaks’ girlfriend called them, they found two men fighting and one man was heard yelling “Who sent you?”.

Police ordered both men to drop their guns and arrested 29-year-old Marquise Pope. He was taken to a hospital for minor injuries.

The 32-year-old rapper told police that he was fighting for his life and even bit one of his attackers several times before a firearm went off.

Police recovered two guns from the scene.

Pope was arraigned Saturday on assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and a firearms offense. His bond has been set at $250,00.

He’s due back in court July 26 and faces up to 1o years in prison for his felony charge.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.
