UFC fighter Israel Adesanya was arrested on Wednesday for carrying brass knuckles, according to reports.
Israel Adesanya, a former UFC champion was attempting to walk through security around 2 p.m. when he was taken into custody by Transportation Security Administration staff, who found the brass knuckles in his possession, according to The New York Post.
Brass knuckles are illegal to carry in the state of New York. The charge is a misdemeanor.
In a statement, Adesanya’s manager Tim Simpson told TMZ that the fighter was on his way home when he was gifted the knuckles by a fan who cooperated authorities.
Adesanya was later released on Wednesday.
