Unarmed woman killed by border patrol, now the ALCU is seeking $100 million for her family

The ALCU is seeking $100 million for the family of a Guatemalan woman who killed by border patrol.

Claudia Patricia Gomez Gonzalez was traveling with a group of people on May 28th, 2018 in Rio Bravo, Texas which is a small border town south of San Antonio when she was shot and killed by a border patrol officer.

Her family told CNN that she was coming to America to find work, like many immigrants do.

According to CBP, the group she was traveling with had thrown “blunt objects” at a border patrol officer, and he shot at them, killing Gonzalez.
The CBP then changed their story days later, saying the group charged at the officer and didn’t follow his instructions to get on the ground. Evidence didn’t support the officers story.
Now, the ALCU is seeking $100 million in damages for her family.
Edgar Saldivar, a senior staff attorney at the ALCU of Texas told CNN “The family wants to know what happened. The family wants to know who killed their daughter. And the family wants to know what the government is going to do to hold this agent accountable.”
