(Update) ALABAMA- An Alabama State University student has been charged in the fatal shooting of another student who went missing last week.
20-year-old Ivry Hall, a Golden Gloves boxer from Chicago, was arrested on Friday, according to the Montogomery Advertiser.
Hall traveled back to Chicago, after allegedly murdering Adam Dowdell, 22, confiding in his former mentor, Rev. Michael Pfleger of St. Sabina Church. Pfleger convinced Hall to turn himself into police, contacting authorities in Alabama on behalf of him.
Dowdell Jr. was reported missing, after leaving his dorm room to retrieve cash from an ATM, but never returned, leaving behind his phone charger and bookbag.
Dowdell’s body was found six days later, with gunshot wounds on Sept. 14, about a quarter-mile away from the ASU campus.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Hall was featured in a documentary, “Ivry”, in which he spoke to young children about how he was once gang-affiliated, shot people and had been shot at himself.
Hall is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, according to the Chicago Tribune.
