EDGEWATER, NEW JERSEY- Rapper Lil Tjay was charged with weapons charges Friday that stemmed from his June shooting, according to a report.
The Bronx rapper, whose real name is Tione Merrit, was booked into the Central Municipal Court Friday and was charged with three counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, NorthJersey.com reported.
He was released on his own recognizance later on that day.
Tjay was shot multiple times on June 22, 2022, while inside of his car in Edgewater, New Jersey, in an alleged attempted robbery outside of a shopping center.
Police said they allegedly found three firearms in Tjay’s car after a search.
Mohamed Konate, 27, was later charged with attempted murder for allegedly shooting the “Calling My Phone” rapper.
