Vanessa Bryant, families of victims killed in helicopter crash reach settlement

CALIFORNIA- Vanessa Bryant, and the families of the victims killed in the 2020 helicopter crash that also took the life of Kobe Bryant have reached a confidential settlement with the company that owned the helicopter in the crash, reports Los Angeles ABC7.

Court docs obtained by AB7 state “Plaintiffs and Defendants jointly report that they have agreed to settle their claims in the above-entitled action.”

The families of victims coach Christina Mauser, Sarah Chester and her 13-year-old daughter, and families of John Altobelli, his wife and their daughter Alyssa were named as plaintiffs in the litigation, court docs state.

The helicopter company, Island Express Helicopters, sued two air traffic controllers, blaming the crash on them.

The private helicopter shouldn’t have flown that day due to the dense fog.

It crashed in Calabasas, killing Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and seven other people that included children.
