Video shows facilty workers restraining teen who died

MICHIGAN- Surveillance footage that was released on Tuesday shows facility workers restraining a teen who died afterwards.

The video shows employees inside of a cafeteria on April 29th, using excessive force when restraining 16-year-old Cornelius Fredericks, because he had thrown a sandwich.

One employee can be seen pushing Fredricks on the floor, and that’s when two other male employees joined in, getting on top of him, pulling his arms and legs, and even sitting on top of him until he passed out.

The incident took place at the Lakeside Academy Kalamazoo.

Fredericks was heard telling the employees “I can’t breathe” before going into cardiac arrest, according to his family. He was taken to a Hospital, where he died 2 days later.

Fredricks’ death was ruled a homicide.

3 people have been arrested and charged. Zachary Solis, Michael Mosley and Heather McLogan were fired and charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse.

Fredrick’s parents are pushing so that other employees are also held accountable for their sons death.
