NYC- Newly released bodycam footage from the NYPD shows an officer appearing to punch a 19-year-old in the face during a chaotic arrest.
The incident took place Tuesday on West 136th Street around 5 p.m.
The footage shows officers attempting to arrest a man, when a woman identified as Tamani Crum, can be seen confronting an officer.
The officer is seen hitting the woman in her face so hard that it caused her to fall on the ground.
She was arrested and charged.
Crum reportedly knows the man that was being arrested.
A criminal complaint states the detective told Crum to leave the area, as they were making an arrest. The officer allegedly grabbed her by the arm and that’s when she allegedly slapped his arm before he’s seen “pushing” her.
Many are demanding an investigation to be opened, saying the officer clearly used excessive force.
The detective is still in active duty.
