Jaylen McCollough, a starting safety for the Tennessee Volunteers has been arrested on felony assault charges.
McCollough was arrested Sunday at Knoxville apartment complex, according to the Knoxville Police Dept.
According to an arrest report obtained by ESPN, a man had walked into the wrong apartment, and apologized to the family before exiting the home.
As he walked away from the apartment, he heard footsteps behind him. When he turned around at the top of the stairs, he “was punched in the face”, fell backwards down the stairs and lost consciousness”, according to an arrest report obtained by ESPN.
Police say the victim suffered missing and broken teeth.
McCollough was arrested and released Monday morning.
