LOUISIANA- A warrant has been issued for the arrest of NFL player Aldon Smith on a second-degree battery for allegedly choking someone.
Police responded to a call on Saturday around 7:30 p.m., about someone who had been “assaulted by an acquaintance”, reports USA Today.
Smith allegedly choked the victim unconscious in an altercation that started at a coffee shop, St. Bernard Parish D.A. Attorney Perry Nicosia told ESPN.
A warrant for Smith’s arrest was issued a day later.
The alleged victim was hospitalized for several injuries and was released.
Smith had just signed a one-year deal with the Seattle Seahawks.
He was arrested in 2018 for violating a protective order in an incident allegedly involving his fiancé.
