Wendy Williams “apologizes” for mocking Joaquin Phoenix’s “cleft palate”

Wendy Williams tweeted an apology to actor Joaquin Phoenix after receiving backlash for mocking his lip scar.

On Tuesday, the gossip queen talked about the ‘Joker’ actor during Hot topics saying “When he shaves off his mustache, he’s got a hairline fracture, he’s got one of those, what do you call it? Cleft lip, cleft palate”, and as she was talking to her audience, she even lifted up her lip to mock his scar.

Cher did NOT take that very well, especially being that she’s been a huge supporter for the cleft palate community.

Cheer tweeted this:

After Cher tweeted that, Wendy then tweeted an “apology”, but not directly to Joaquin Phoenix. She tweeted  “We’re thinking about Beau today as he is in surgery,” adding “I want to apologize to the cleft community and in Beau’s honor, our show is donating to @operationsmile and @AmerCleftPalate and encourage our Wendy Watchers to learn more and help support the cleft community.”

Cher didn’t except that ‘apology”, and tweeted:

Joaquin talked about his scar last year in a Variety interview. He described it as “not a surgically fixed cleft” but a “nonsurgical scar he was born with”…
