It’s being reported that less that 20 white supremacist showed in Washington up for the “Unite The Right Rally”. They were outnumbered by counter activist, a lot. There were actually thousands of counter-protesters there at the rally on Sunday. According to NBC News, Jason Kessler, the white nationalist organizer who was in charge of the rally, had a permit to have up to 400 people and only 20 showed up.
Many didn’t forget Heather Heyer, who was killed on Aug 11 by James Alex Fields , a white supremacist, who plowed his vehicle right into Heyer as she rallied peacefully down the street. Heyer’s boyfriend was also one one the victims, suffering a broken leg. Heather was a paralegal and a civil rights activist.
There was 50 foot fences separating both sides and police were all over. Many counter-protesters shouted “Nazi’s Go home!”. The rain cut the rally short. As the white nationalist left, their routes were allegedly blocked and counter-protesters along with anti-fascist who shouted at the white nationalist.
Heather Heyer’s mother on the other side was visiting the place that had marked a year since Heather was killed in that very place. Heather’s mother Susan Bro left flowers for her daughter and for the two police officers who died that same day in a Helicopter close by. Photo cred: Lucas Jackson / Reuters
