Woman charged after drowning 15-month-old in “baptism”

MIAMI- A mother has been charged  after drowning her 15-month-old baby in a “baptism” this weekend.

The mother of six told police that she drowned her toddler daughter because everyone was going to die from COVID-19 and that Jesus was returning.

Precious Bland, 38, is also accused of stabbing her teenage daughter and husband when they attempted to intervene in order to protect the toddler.

Miami-Dade police were called to Bland’s residence on Aug. 23. When they arrived, Bland’s husband was outside of their home with multiple stab wounds to his neck and head, according to local reports.

Bland’s husband told police that she filled their bathtub up and held their 15-month-old daughter under water, after blabbing about COVID-19 and Jesus all day.

When the husband attempted to help his daughter, he claims Bland began struggling with him and then ordered her teenage daughter to get her a knife. Her daughter gave the knife, and Bland stabbed her husband in the neck and head before stabbing her teen daughter in the arms.

The teenage daughter was taken to a Hospital where she was treated.

The toddler’s cause of death was drowning and the manner of death was ruled as a homicide.

Bland was charged with one count of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted  second-degree murder and  two counts of aggravated child abuse.
