NYC- A woman has been charged after she allegedly had a stranger from Instagram kidnapped and tortured before demanding $100,000 in ransom, police say.
Valerie Rosario, 22, is facing charges of kidnapping and attempted murder.
Prosecutors say Rosario allegedly coaxed the stranger from Instagram to an address on Marble Hill Ave. in The Bronx on Feb. 7 after they communicated on the app.
The stranger was unaware that Rosario had other plans than hooking up.
When the unidentified victim arrived at the address around 1 a.m., the torture began after three men busted into the apartment and began pistol-whipping him.
Rosario and the three accomplices allegedly stripped the victim, “placed him in a bathtub poured flammable substances on him, and burned him with a flame”, according to court docs, reports the NY Daily News.
The victim was tormented with a knife, “striking him in his legs, back and body”.
Several hours later, the suspects moved the victim to another location, where they Facetimed his brother. His brother witnessed as one of the kidnappers cut the victim as they demanded ransom.
They told the victim’s brother “give us $100,000 or we will kill him”, court docs say.
Police were able to track one of the alleged accomplices, Javier Vargas, outside of an address in Queens as he was sitting in a van with a knife.
The victim was found in the van unconscious, wrapped in a blanket, with tape over his mouth.
The victim was treated at a hospital for his injuries. He suffered stab and burn wounds to his face, body, legs and back.
Rosario is set to be arraigned next week and will remain in jail.
Vargas and another alleged kidnapper were remanded after being arrested and charged last week.
