LOUISIANA- A woman has been arrested 25 years after the murder of her newborn baby that left to die.
Sonia Charles, 50, was arrested by police on Wednesday, and has been charged with first-degree murder.
This case was cold for 25 years, until DNA from the baby was linked to Charles.
“Baby Jane Doe” was found in a 55-gallon drum on Jan. 24, 1994 behind a car wash by the owner of the car wash.
She was reportedly alive for hours and her cause of death was hypothermia.
The coroner who delivered the baby’s eulogy described her as a ‘beautiful 6-pound baby girl lying on her back with her thumb in her mouth, as though she were sucking.”
Baby Jane Doe brought the entire town of New Iberia, as they got together, including police officers, giving her a funeral and a proper burial.
