LOUISIANA- A woman has been charged in connection to the death of a teen boy who was found dead in a sugar cane field.
Janet Irvin, 37, was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and failure to report a missing child in the disappearance of 15-year-old Quawan “Bobby” Charles, according to the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office.
According to CBS News, Irvin may have allowed Charles to have smoked Marijuana in her home with her 17-year-old son, and she admitted to not calling police after Charles left her home to report him missing.
Charles was reported missing by his family on Oct. 30.
His body was discovered naked in a drainage ditch at a sugar cane field about 20 miles away from his home.Video footage from the area shows Charles walking by himself along the creek.
The medical examiner’s office found Marijuana in his system along with alcohol and the examiner suggested that he died by drowning after he had a psychotic episode from smoking Marijuana.
The victim’s family is conducting their own autopsy. They believe foul play played a role in Charles’ death and question marks he had on his face.
