CALIFORNIA- A woman is accused of killing her sister and her 3-week-old niece with the help of her boyfriend, police said.
According to Fresno Police Chief Paco Balderrama, Yarelly Solorio-Rivera, 22, and her boyfriend, Martin Arroyo-Morales, 26, in connection to the killings of 18-year-old Yanelly Solorio-Rivera and her newborn daughter Celine Solorio-Rivera, PEOPLE reports.
Both were charged with two counts of premeditated murder.
Police responded to a report of a shooting on Sept. 24 at a residence. Once inside, they found Solorio-Rivera “shot to death” on a bed with her deceased newborn in her arms.
Both were pronounced dead on the scene.
Investigators believe “jealousy and sibling rivalry” played a role in the murders, but there isn’t a clear motive.
Yarelly and Arroyo-Morales both admitted to killing the victims. the pair led police to the weapon used, a 9mm gun.
If convicted, the pair could face the death penalty.
