Woman declared dead from COVID-19 found alive in Hospital mix-up

ECUADOR- A woman who was declared dead by doctors, was found very much alive in what is being considered a mix-up.

74-year-old Alba Maruri was admitted to a Hospital in Guayaquil, Ecuador last month after coming down with a high fever and difficulty breathing according to a local newspaper El Comercio and BBC.

Doctors told the family that Maruri was pronounced dead on March 27th, and “showed” them a corpse at the Hospital for them to identify Maruri’s body, but BBC reports that the family was kept far from the body because doctors didn’t want family members to contract the deadly virus, so they really couldn’t identify the corpse.

The corpse that was shown to the family was cremated, and the ashes were given to the family, who had to pay for the expenses, but on Thursday, Maruri woke up from a coma she was in.

The Hospital is blaming the mix-up on the massive outbreak in their country..
