Woman sentenced to 28 years in prison; starved 5 year old step son and kept him in closet

Tammi Bleimeyer was sentenced to 28 years in prison on Monday after being found guilty of starving her 5 year old step-son and keeping him in a closet in 2014.

Bleimeyer’s son, who was 14 years old at the time, told police that his mother, along with her boyfriend Bradley, were abusing his step-brother Jordan.

Authorities said the 5 year old boy was forced to wear diapers, and slept in a cramped space underneath the stairs on a mattress with exposed wires and nails.

When authorities got to the home to investigate, Bleimeyer had left with Jordan to a motel, she was six months pregnant at the time. Police found the child covered in bruises and bumps and severely underweight.

He was immediately taken to the hospital, where one doctor said that he was severely starved and abused. Doctors said he had just a few more days to live, if he hadn’t been brought in.

Doctors compared the child’s condition to that of a holocaust survivor, saying he weighed only 29 pounds. Police say that the child wasn’t allowed to eat with his family, along with his biological father and was fed one slice of bread a day.

His father was sentenced in 2016 to 15 years in prison.

The child is now living with his biological mother. As for Bleimmeyer’s children, including her baby, they were placed in child protective custody.
