TEXAS- A jury sentenced a woman to 55 years in prison on Friday in the fatal shooting of her boyfriend who was a rising producer and rapper.
Sasha Skare was convicted of murder on Aug. 31, after a trial where she testified that she shot Martell “Kardone” DeRouen, 34, with his handgun during an argument in Jan. 2021 in self-defense, the San Antonio Express-News reported.
She was upset that DeRouen was discussing business ventures with a man on the phone.
Skare claimed that DeRouen began hitting and choking her before she killed him and fled from the apartment, they were in.
DeRouens body was discovered four days later.
He was the cousin of singer Beyoncé.
