IOWA- A racist white woman who admitted to purposely driving her SUV into two black children was sentenced to 25 years in prison on Wednesday.
Nicole Poole Franklin, 43, was sentenced to up to 25 years on state charges for the December 2019 attack.
According to FOX News, U.S. District Judge Stephanie Rose sentenced Franklin to 25 years and four months on Thursday after she plead guilty in May to two federal hate crime charges.
Prosecutors asked for a 27-year sentence last week, saying Franklin targeted a 14-year-old Latin girl and a 12-year-old black boy.
Both children were walking down a street near their school when Franklin drove over a curb and struck the boy. She told police she ran him over because he’s “just like ISIS” and that “he’s not supposed to be there and he’s going to take me out.”
Franklin then drove up on a sidewalk minutes later, hitting the girl because she said she thought the girl was Mexican and was taking “our homes, and our jobs”, adding the girl wasn’t “supposed to be in the country” the filing says, reports FOX and the Associated Press.
The girl suffered a concussion, bruises and cuts.
Franklin’s public defender argued that Franklin is a drug user (meth) and has a history of mental illness.
Maybe she should’ve went back to Europe, just saying. I Hope she enjoys her new home in a cage.
