BROOKLYN, N.Y.C.- 20-year-old Mia Simmons was arraigned in a Brooklyn court on Wednesday with Manslaughter and weapon possession for the death of Latanya Watson, but her lawyer says that she was defending herself.
The two women got into a nasty fight that was caught on video surveillance, but when they got off on the Sutter Ave stop on the 2 train, things turned deadly..
The alleged victim, Watson, pepper sprayed the suspect as she was exiting the turnstile.
Video shows the victim attacking the suspect from the back. It was then that the suspect appeared to be wielding a knife and stabbed the alleged victim.
Simmons stabbed Watson in her face, arms and neck.
She later died at the hospital from her wounds.
Simmons’ lawyer told the court “There is a video that makes clear that the decedent is the initial aggressor and attacked my client.”
