CALIFORNIA – A woman convicted of involuntary manslaughter for stabbing her boyfriend 108 times has received a very light sentence for her crime.
Bryn Spejcher, 32, was facing four years in prison for fatally stabbing her boyfriend, Chad O’Melia, 26, in 2018 during a so-called drug-induced psychotic episode, but instead was sentenced to two years of probation of just 100 hours of community service Tuesday.
Spejcher stabbed O’Melia inside of his apartment over 100 times after the pair had smoked marijuana together.
She also stabbed herself several times and was tased by police who had arrived at the bloody scene.
During the trial, a medical expert testified that Spejcher’s behavior was the result of cannabis-induced psychosis, according to the L.A. Times.
